This is my Sophie. She is proudly modeling the new feathers she had put in her hair.
She is also proudly modeling her "birthday makeup..." because today she is 14. ( cue gasp.)
It is not possible right? I am only 23...oh yeah ~I already told you I was 40.
Today I can hardly believe there are only a few ~ 4 maybe 5 more summers, of her at home, it seemed like we had plenty of time... and today I am very painfully aware that every minute must be treasured. It really flies. Listen to me moms of little ones...Don't blink.
Container of Joy...I will have to remember that when I speak to my kiddos. I love your play on words. The second picture took my breath away. What a wonderful time in a girls life, but most especially with great parents who shed tears over coffee. My husband cried over dinner with me when our oldest began college. He's the softy here.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Sohpia! Have a blessed day and year!
Tell Sophia Happy Birthday! I hope ya'll have a fun day and I also hope that you don't run out of kleenex : )
ReplyDeleteYou're 110% right! My oldest just turned 14yrs and I can still picture her chubby-cheeked baby face. I can't look at the baby pics or I tear up as I remember the days gone by....pay back for making fun of my teary eyed mom!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics!
Lovely "mom" thoughts Melanie and Happy Birthday Sophia! As a mom of my 40-year old "baby", I can attest to the fact that the gift of time flies by. On one hand you feel like they've been around forever and on the other hand it's only a fraction of time. The older I get the more I'm amazed at how quickly life passes by. All the more reason to be mindful that this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to sweet Sophie!!
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty and what a treasure!
:)
